This documentary with fictional elements explores the bond between a mother and her four daughters.
With Four Daughters, director Kaouther Ben Hania (The Man Who Sold His Skin, Beauty and the Dogs) has received her second Oscar nomination. The film is a unique and moving film that floats between documentary and fiction.
Olfa is the mother of four girls. One day her two eldest daughters disappear. Director Kaouther Ben Hania tells the story of the disappearance together with Olfa, her two remaining daughters and professional actors. An intimate story full of hope, resistance and sadness about colliding worlds and what it is to be a mother or sister. Four Daughters was nominated for the Best Documentary Oscar and was selected for the Cannes Film Festival competition, where it won the Best Documentary Award and the Positive Cinema Award.
The film was also one of the audience favorites at the IFFR. Olfa, her daughters and the actresses take you into the family's world and leave you stunned at the end.
There are no new dates planned (yet) for Four Daughters.
