Corporate Social Responsibility

Together with the public, we strive to preserve or restore a clean environment and nature. Together, we are responsible for our ecological footprint. We are aware of the impact of our business activities on the environment and society and act in a way that the natural environment is preserved and available for future generations as well. We therefore have the ambition to be recognised as an example of corporate social responsibility in the Groningen region. We do this by increasingly integrating sustainability into our business processes, services and products.

Corporate social responsibility statement

We make conscious choices and seek a balance between people, the environment and society. This statement is a process, not a final destination. We are constantly looking for new ways and opportunities to do business in a socially responsible way. Only together do we stand strong and ensure a future that belongs to everyone.

The Forum is for everyone

  • We are here for everyone, which is why we make sure the building is easily accessible.
  • We inform our visitors, employees and suppliers how we do business in a socially responsible way.
  • With our courses and programmes, we try to reduce the social divide and involve everyone in society.

The earth belongs to everyone

  • We actively keep abreast of CSR developments within our profession and actively contribute to transferring our knowledge to employees.
  • We work to improve our procurement process and focus on goods and services that are sustainable, preferably with an environmental, sustainability and/or social label.
  • We work continuously to reduce environmental impact and increase sustainability.

The future belongs to everyone

  • We voluntarily contribute to social causes by making it part of our programme offer and by providing knowledge and literature.
  • We determine our social impact and limit negative impact, such as fraud, intimacy, and exploitation.
  • We make transparent agreements with stakeholders about the quality of our services and how we monitor that quality.

Third time Green Key GOLD

The Forum is happy to work towards a more sustainable future. In 2023, we achieved gold again in the Green Key assessment, we did the same in 2020, 2021 and now again. Good result!

Green Key is a quality mark for sustainable organisations in the leisure and recreation sector and business market, such as the Forum. The aim of Green Key is to promote appreciation and knowledge of nature and the environment as widely as possible. Worldwide, more than 1,600 companies and organisations in 18 countries are members of the international Green Key quality mark. Forum Groningen is one of them.

To obtain a Green Key certificate, you have to take many measures regarding environmental care and corporate social responsibility (CSR). The inspections are carried out by external inspectors. At such inspections, we receive many tips and ideas on how we could improve. This is how we work hard to make our business processes, services and products more sustainable.

Couple of examples:

  • The Forum building is completely gas-free and is heated and cooled by means of the so called WKO (heat and cold storage) installation.
  • The catering partner of Forum Groningen is committed to making the world of food and drink healthier, more sustainable and more social, and has formulated its own vision of sustainability, Food Vision 2027.
