An intriguing and contemporary British drama about Jane Fairchild, the maid of an aristocratic family who becomes a writer
It's March 30, 1924, Mother's Sunday. This is the day that all housestaff gets time off to visit family. Jane Fairchild (Odessa Young) is family Nivens' maid (Colin Firth, Olivia Colma). The Nivens have lunch with the Sheringhams to maintain their tradition. Jane no longer has any family, so she uses her free day to secretly meet her lover Paul (Josh O'Connor). He is the son of the Sheringhans. The day takes a drastic turn, but Jane will use her experiences to become a well reknown writer.
Mothering Sunday was selected for the Cannes Filmfestival. The film tells more than it shows, and catches people's emotions with its magical imagery.
