Vile-comic costume drama about the fickle, seventeenth-century British queen Anne (Colman) and two ladies-in-waiting (Weisz and Stone) who compete for her (sexual) favors by any means necessary. Everything in this movie is right. From the razor-sharp dialogues, the unusual camera angles and the exuberant direction of the Greek grandmaster Lanthimos. Lanthimos stretches the old laws of costume drama in this film to such an extent that he almost creates a new genre.

More accessible than before and still vintage Lanthimos. The Favorite was showered with awards and was a great box office success.
