Over the course of four vibrant seasons, director Luke Lorentzen immerses you in life in and around the harbor of the small town of Brooklin.
A final sanding over the tabletop, a quick wipe of the glass, and then the work is truly done: in the first minutes of Boatbuilders, the newest centerpiece from Brooklin Boat Yard takes to the water and the next design is already on the way.
The wooden sailing yachts from Brooklin Boat Yard are meticulously crafted by sixty specialists down to the smallest details. We see parts slide together like puzzle pieces. Just as effortlessly, the calmly observing camera follows a group of fishermen, visits a family with a newborn baby, or films children working in an orchard. Lorentzen weaves the rhythms of the shipyard and nature to show what true attention brings.
The communal existence in Brooklin, a town with 827 inhabitants, comes wonderfully close through this collection of portraits, with the warm brotherhood of the shipyard at its heart.
