Tristan da Cunha is the most remote inhabited island in the world. Anyone who wants to come must take a boat trip of about nine days: the volcanic island is too steep for an airport.
The Parisian doctor Loran Bonnardot has been visiting the island for thirty years and plans to settle there permanently. That is not so easy: the residents' council of Tristan da Cunha must agree. This means that Bonnardot will have to prove for a year that he can integrate into the close-knit community of about 230 men and women.
Is Tristan da Cunha really the utopia that Bonnardot thinks he has found? And will he ever be truly accepted? In this mix of documentary and fiction, Bonnardot dives into a world that sometimes feels like a dream.
