Raak mij aan! Touch me!

Ammonite is the new film from director Francis Lee (God’s Own Country), starring Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan and set in 1840s England.

Acclaimed paleontologist Mary Anning (Kate Winslet) works alone on the wild and brutal Southern English coastline of Lyme Regis. The days of her famed discoveries are behind her, and now she supports herself and her ailing mother by hunting for fossils to sell to rich tourists. When geologist Roderick Murchison arrives in Lyme, he entrusts his young wife Charlotte (Saoirse Ronan) to Mary’s care.

Mary cannot afford to refuse this request. Despite the class difference and their widely different personalities, Mary and Charlotte discover they can offer each other companionship. It is the beginning of a passionate and complex love afair.
