Sense and Sensibility

After the death of their father, sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood must move with their mother and younger sister to a modest cottage in the countryside. Since the majority of the inheritance goes to their half-brother, the Dashwoods are now reliant on a limited income. Meanwhile, the sisters face very different challenges in love.

The sensible and reserved Elinor falls in love with the kind Edward Ferrars, but their relationship is complicated by social expectations and a secret from Edward's past. Her younger sister Marianne throws herself fervently into a passionate romance with the attractive John Willoughby. When that relationship unexpectedly ends, Marianne confronts the harsh reality behind her romantic ideals.
