The Israeli filmmaker Anet Even lost her home and friends in the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, on the kibbutz Nir Oz. She now returns to document what remains.
She does not spare herself: in voice-over, she reflects on her own confused relationship with the events and her country. She is a fervent opponent of the current government but does not know how to express that. Her dilemmas materialize in conversations with a more activist friend, playwright Ariel Cypel, who lives in Paris.
Even films her attempts to enter Gaza and captures a gathering of settlers who plan to settle in Gaza and express that by shouting ‘occupy, expel, settle’. An introspective and revealing film essay about loss, grief, revenge, dehumanization, and indifference.
Includes an introduction by film journalist Hugo Emmerzael.
