An aggressive alien race of blue giants, the Drags, subdue humans in this surreal animation. Grand Jury Prize Winner Cannes Film Festival 1973.
In a distant future on planet Ygam, the Daags, blue, emotionless superaliens, keep humanoid creatures called Oms as pets; the proportions are that of master and enslaved. La planète sauvage (Fantastic Planet) places man in an enslaved position; as a pet he serves the vicious Daags, a race that thinks itself master.
The score with psychedelic jazz music by Alain Goraguer lifts the viewer from the seams of the everyday and takes him into a supernatural SF experience in which man is no longer the measure of things.
There are no new dates planned (yet) for La Planète Sauvage (Fantastic Planet).
