When journalist Jan Brokken interviews the world-renowned concert pianist Youri Egorov, who has fled the Soviet Union, an unexpected but close friendship develops. A beautiful snapshot of the turbulent Amsterdam of the eighties and an intimate portrait of friendship.

As the flamboyant Egorov embraces his freedom and artistry, he helps the introverted Brokken find the courage to pursue his dream: to become a writer.

Sander Burger (The Conviction) adapted the autobiographical novel In the House of the Poet by Jan Brokken, starring Joes Brauers (Hardcore Never Dies, a Woman like Monique) as Jan Brokken and Georgian actor Levan Gelbakhiani (And Then We Danced) as Youri Egorov.
