With the intriguing drama Parallel Stories, two-time Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi (A Separation, The Salesman) returns to Paris. In search of inspiration for her new novel, writer Sylvie (Isabelle Huppert) spies on her neighbors across the street.

She fills in their existence based on her own imagination. When the homeless Adam (Adam Bessa) appears in her life, those stories unexpectedly begin to take on a life of their own. Soon, the line between fiction and reality blurs, until they are hardly distinguishable from each other.

Parallel Stories premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. For the film, Farhadi found inspiration in Kieślowski, particularly A Short Film About Love from Decalogue, in which a voyeur becomes obsessed with his neighbor.
