Carlobianchi and Doriano are two broke fifty-year-olds who hope to hit it big one last time. Francesco Sossai’s tragicomic road movie is a melancholic, witty, and loving ode to friendship, failures, and the art of getting lost one more time.
Things do not look good for fifty-somethings Carlobianchi and Doriano. They are almost broke. Since the financial crisis of 2008, the small-time crooks have been unable to set up a lucrative scam. Their last hope is the return of their comrade Genio, who hid the loot from a job before his flight to Argentina. During a boozy trip through the Venetian countryside, Carlobianchi and Doriano meet the shy architecture student Giulio, whom they take under their wing and give a fresh perspective on life and love with their unsolicited advice.
The tragicomic road movie Let's Go for One Last Drink by Francesco Sossai premiered last year in Cannes, was subsequently selected for festivals including Toronto, New York, Thessaloniki, and Göteborg, and won as many as eight David di Donatello Awards (the Italian film awards), including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Male Lead.
