Lanthimos' absurdist drama The Lobster is an unconventional mix of black comedy, social satire and love drama with a star cast including Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz and Léa Seydoux.
In the world of The Lobster it is not allowed to go through life single. Singles are arrested and transported to the hotel, where they are given forty days to find a partner. As a newcomer to the Hotel, the phlegmatic single David (Colin Farrell) has to deal with the rigid management. If he is unable to find a partner approved by them within the time limit, he will be turned into an animal of his choice and released into the Forest. The mysterious Loners also hide there.
