Framed: Call for entries 2026

Framed International Animation Film Festival is calling for imaginative filmmakers from across the globe! Submissions for Framed 2026 are now open!

Whether you're an industry professional or a student passionate about animation, this is your chance to showcase your work at one of the most exciting new animation festivals in Europe.

Our mission is to spread the love for the animated medium, and to show audiences the potential and versatility of animators from all backgrounds and experiences, all spread out over several days of short-film compilations, feature film screenings, industry talks, events and more! From traditional 2D to experimental mixed media, from stop-motion to CGI, Framed invites artists to explore fresh narratives, push creative boundaries, and captivate audiences with innovative visual storytelling. Come celebrate the limitless possibilities of this beautiful medium with us!

You can submit your animated short through our FilmFreeway page. There’s a small submission fee of €5, but if you’re a student or made your film while studying, entry is completely free. More specific details, terms and rules regarding shorts and submissions can be found on our FilmFreeway page.

Our selection committee will review all submitted films, and you’ll hear back from us by March 31st, 2026 about whether your short has been selected. If your film makes it into the programme, it’ll be screened at least once in Forum’s beautiful cinema halls. We’ll also get in touch about providing the master copy and other promotional materials. And if possible, we’d love for you to join us at the festival!

Deadline for submissions: November 30th, 2025
For any questions, feel free to reach out at framedsubmissions@forum.nl

Good luck, and hopefully we’ll see you in May 2026!
