The Time Masters (Les Maîtres du temps) by René Laloux is an adventurous science-fiction animated film from 1982, visually designed by the legendary comic artist Jean Giraud.
When the young boy Piel becomes stranded on the desert planet Perdide—a dangerous world inhabited by giant killer hornet-like creatures—he is left completely on his own. Using an interstellar communication device, he tries to stay in contact with the space pilot Jaffar, who sets out with his crew on a rescue mission before it’s too late.
With Moebius’ (Jean Giraud) distinctive, imaginative designs and a thrilling story filled with strange planets, mysterious creatures, and unexpected twists, The Time Masters stands as a remarkable classic of European science-fiction animation.
