A hyper-original and surreal art-mystery thriller bursting with cinematic and artistic delight. As if Picasso were making a remake of James Bond. A sparkling, highly original cinematic rollercoaster, acclaimed by critics and the public.
Ruben Brandt (a portmanteau of Rubens and Rembrandt) is a psychotherapist specializing in treating art thieves. He himself is plagued by nightmares in which characters from famous paintings attack and chase him. As a last resort therapeutic measure, he decides to steal these thirteen masterpieces in the hope of a cure. Almost in secret, visual artist Krstic worked on his masterful animation debut, in which he transforms visual art into a compelling genre film.
The outrageous film is jam-packed with art and film references, is playful and particularly stylish, and naturally, utterly surreal.
