Energetic portrait of Michael Greenberg, who disrupts events with the activist group Climate Defiance in the run-up to the 2024 U.S. presidential elections. No matter how grim the politics appear, these idealists remain stubbornly hopeful.
During a formal dinner in the U.S. state of Massachusetts, the atmosphere suddenly shifts in the first minutes of Just Look Up. Among the guests are members of the activist group Climate Defiance, who take the stage to put a bank executive in a tight spot. Who are these young idealists and how do they operate in the lead-up to the crucial presidential elections of 2024?
The protagonist in this energetic portrait is Michael Greenberg, who wants to combat the climate crisis just as Gandhi and Martin Luther King fought for civil rights. Nonviolent but fierce protests should awaken people. A politician or billionaire may not immediately change their ways when an event is disrupted, but it does generate important attention.
The struggle is not easy for Greenberg and his companions, who are regularly arrested with excessive force and even encounter resistance from their own parents at times. But this generation of activists will not be deterred, no matter how grim the politics appear.
