What do you do in a world full of inequality, injustice, and rising authoritarianism? Death Does Not Exist immerses you in a hypnotic, hand-drawn animated exploration of choices, conscience, and responsibility.
The film follows Hélène, an activist who abandons her comrades after a failed armed attack on a wealthy family. Isolated in a dreamlike forest, she is haunted by Manon, a former member of the group, who confronts Hélène with the consequences of her actions and the values she claims to uphold.
Through colors, visions, and animals, Hélène’s inner struggle is brought to life, alternating between quiet, contemplative moments and hallucinatory, fully hand-drawn animation. Félix Dufour-Laperrière delivers an urgent film about personal responsibility, social inequality, and the question of what it truly means to act—or to do nothing.
