Films are more than just stories or entertainment; they make us think about big questions of life. In our Film x Philosophy series, we explore themes such as humanity, technology, and existentialism through film.
It is time to reevaluate The Matrix sequels. It is well-known what kind of impact the first film had, but the sequels, both released in 2003, were not very well received. The message of the first film was completely reversed. Say goodbye to the hero's journey, good versus evil, the cliché of the chosen one who saves the world.
Reloaded flips all the roles, confuses, provokes. It begins to reveal that there is a deeper layer to the Matrix that is deeply personal, one that concerns the balancing of body, mind, and soul. In this edition of Film x Philosophy, we delve into how masterfully this film is constructed.
The Matrix Reloaded is an impressive action film with practical effects of a level that you no longer see today, and CGI that is far ahead of its time, and deserves its place in history as a sci-fi and action classic.
