A masterful documentary about the volcanic islands of Cape Verde, where wind and ocean determine the lives of animals and humans alike.
The stunning images, accompanied by enchanting music by renowned Cape Verdean composer Vasco Martins, make The Coriolis Effect an unparalleled ode to life on Earth. In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean lies the archipelago of Cape Verde (Cabo Verde). This is where the hurricanes that ravage the Caribbean and the US every year are born. By nature, the islands have many limitations. Those who live here must be persistent.
Whether you are a goat, a human or a turtle, if you want to build a life here and bring new life into the world, you will have to show vitality. The undisputed stars of the film are the sea turtles, majestically floating in the ocean or extremely cute and vulnerable on the beach, stealing the show. These islands are one of the most important breeding grounds in the world for them. They lay their eggs on the beaches where they were born. This prehistoric animal plays the leading role in several creation myths; the turtle carries the earth or is the earth itself.
The enormous perseverance with which the baby turtle overcomes all obstacles on its way to the life-saving ocean, the human being who is just as exposed to the elements on an island as the animals, they show their will to live against all odds in a rapidly changing world. A grand film that touches on the overwhelming and indescribable nature of life on earth.
There are no new dates planned (yet) for The Coriolis Effect.
