- Event

For this special lampshade, you will work with the laser cutter and with needle and thread, learning to combine new and 'old' techniques.
Your design determines whether it will be a hanging or standing lamp, and you can even use your own fabrics. The lamp will be shaped entirely according to your wishes.
The workshop consists of two sessions. During the first session, you will design the 'fins' for the lamp, which form the wooden skeleton and determine the strength of the construction. The wooden skeleton will be cut out during (or, if there is not enough time, after) the workshop by the laser cutter so you can work with it in the second session.
In the second session, you will work with textiles. Between the fins, there will be six strips of fabric. You may use your own fabric, preferably 100% cotton, or you can choose something from the large bin in the Smartlab. It is important that the fabrics are sufficiently light-transmitting, as this determines the strength of the light and thus the atmosphere of the lamp.
Once you have put everything together, the lamp will be complete with fitting, light bulb (replaceable), cord with switch, so you can use it at home right away.
The workshop consists of 2 sessions, the ticket is valid for both dates. The first session takes place on Wednesday, September 23, and the second session on Wednesday, September 30.
