Quentin Tarantino called Courtney Hunt's impressive debut ‘the most exciting thriller I've seen this year.’ The film shows how borders not only separate countries, but also lives, dreams and families.
In the freezing border region between the American state of New York and Canada, Ray Eddy tries to keep her family together. After her husband runs off with their savings, she is left behind with two children and barely enough money to get by. When she meets Lila, a Mohawk woman, Ray becomes involved in the illegal smuggling of migrants across the frozen river that forms the border.
An intense and humane film that shows how far people are willing to go to secure a future – and what sacrifices that entails.
There are no new dates planned (yet) for Classics: Frozen River.
