Second Victims

Due to staff shortages, the skilled doctor Alexandra (Özlem Saglanmak, known from Borgen) has to work two shifts at the same time in the emergency room. When she sends 18-year-old patient Oliver and his mother (Trine Dyrholm) home due to lack of time and Oliver suffers a life-threatening stroke a few minutes later, Alexandra begins to doubt herself. 

Feelings of guilt and recriminations reverberate through the hospital corridors and Alexandra is confronted with the emotional consequences of a medical error. Second Victims shows that doctors are just as much victims of the failing healthcare system. The film is a huge success in Denmark and has been named the best film of the year.
