A visual mind trip between dream and reality – from the master of Japanese animation, Satoshi Kon.
What if your dreams were indistinguishable from reality? In Paprika, the latest film by legendary Japanese director Satoshi Kon, the boundaries between the conscious and the subconscious blur spectacularly. When an experimental device that allows you to enter your dreams is stolen, nightmarish chaos ensues. Only the mysterious dream detective Paprika can intervene.
With lightning-fast editing, distorted spaces and hallucinatory images, Paprika immerses you in a world where anything is possible – and nothing is what it seems. The film was a major source of inspiration for Christopher Nolan's Inception, but is at least as impressive in terms of style and courage, and often even more radical.
Prior to the film, the short film Sublunar by Alessia Paino will be shown.
