Six days in the life of a farmer in a wooden house on a windy plain: that is what viewers see in The Turin Horse, filmed in thirty shots.
During those six days, the palinka distiller Ohlsdorfer, his silent daughter and the horse in the stable make their way towards destruction. Father and daughter perform their daily tasks, eat a potato, remain silent and listen to the storm. A man who wants to buy palinka launches into a monologue about God being responsible for his own death. The well runs dry. The horse neither eats nor drinks, and the sparsely lit days grow darker and darker. The daughter reads a text in which the Bible is measured. The light goes out. The last potato remains uncooked.
Wednesday, 4 March, with an introduction by Dr Miklós Kiss, Associate Professor of Audiovisual Arts and Cognition at the University of Groningen.
There are no new dates planned (yet) for Classics: The Turin Horse.
