November 25 marks exactly 50 years since The Band made history with a legendary farewell concert. Martin Scorsese turned this into an iconic music film, featuring Dylan, Clapton, and many other rock legends.
The Band’s final performance, held at Bill Graham’s Winterland Ballroom in 1976, was captured by Scorsese with the same flair he brings to his feature films. A parade of rock legends takes the stage, ranging from Joni Mitchell and Van Morrison to Bob Dylan. Concert footage is interspersed with scenes from rehearsals and interviews with the individual band members. Exactly fifty years after the performance, this legendary film returns to the big screen at Cinecitta.
‘The most beautiful rock film ever made,’ according to The New York Times. Scorsese’s masterful documentary captures this unique evening in impressive fashion, featuring the band sharing the stage with major artists such as Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Emmylou Harris, Neil Young, and Dr. John.
