Classics: Ms. 45

The film follows Thana, a mute and seemingly vulnerable seamstress, whose life changes drastically after a traumatic experience. What begins as a story of victimhood develops into a confronting and uncompromising revenge thriller.

With minimal dialogue and an intense visual style, Ms. 45 manages to establish a gripping atmosphere. The film is raw, direct, and sometimes uncomfortable to watch, but therein lies its strength. Ferrara does not let the viewer look away, and raises questions about power, gender, and violence that remain relevant today.

Lead actress Zoë Lund carries the film almost entirely on her shoulders with an intense and physical performance that is both vulnerable and disturbing.
