Classics: Amadeus

Miloš Forman’s Amadeus is regarded as one of the most acclaimed musical biopics ever made and remains a timeless meditation on talent, envy and the painful divide between mediocrity and masterpiece. The life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Tom Hulce) unfolds through the poisoned perspective of his contemporary and court composer Antonio Salieri (F. Murray Abrahams in the role of his career). In his bitter retrospective, Salieri describes how, at the height of his fame, he is musically humiliated by the young Mozart, culminating in an obsessive attempt to undermine his genius.

The film won eight Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actor, and now returns in a 4K restoration for the first time since its original release in its original theatrical cut.
