Book adaptation Queer is a raw, romantic drama about an American expat in 1950s Mexico who is searching for love and connection.
Daniel Craig definitely leaves James Bond behind in this erotic and hallucinatory role. Journalist and writer William Lee (Daniel Craig) spends his days in Mexico City in the 1950s. There is a vibrant American community there, but he is much on his own. With the arrival of Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey), William completely blossoms. He is captivated by the elusive young man and overjoyed when Eugene agrees to travel with him through South America.
During this journey, they seem to become one. But life does not let itself be controlled. In Queer, director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name, Challengers) once again explores notions of masculinity, intimacy and friendship and does so dazzlingly. He bases it on William S. Burroughs' novel of the same name. Queer premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
There are no new dates planned (yet) for Queer.
