Directorial debut by Shih-Ching Tsou, who worked with Sean Baker (Anora, The Florida Project) for many years. Sizzling neon Taipei pops off the screen in this tender film about the relationship between mothers and daughters.
Single mother Shu-Fen and her two daughters, teenager I-Ann and five-year-old I-Jing, return to Taipei after living in the countryside for years. All three of them have quite a lot to deal with. Shu-Fen has to clean up her ex's mess while working herself to the bone in a food stall, and I-Ann wants to stand on her own two feet but keeps making the wrong decisions. When left-handed I-Jing is forced by her traditional grandfather to never use her “devil's hand” again, three generations of family secrets suddenly begin to unravel.
There are no new dates planned (yet) for Left-Handed Girl.
