Persepolis, the animated adaptation of Marjane Satrapi's acclaimed graphic novel, remains a timeless exploration of identity, resilience and freedom.

The story follows the director's coming-of-age during the Iranian Revolution and offers a deeply personal yet universal tale of a young girl finding her way amid political turmoil, cultural conflict and personal growth. The powerful black-and-white images poignantly capture the duality of hope and despair in a world of rapidly changing realities. Today, Persepolis resonates more than ever, as movements like Woman, Life and Freedom amplify the voices of those fighting for equality and human rights in Iran and beyond.

With follow-up discussion

After the film, there will be a discussion with Armita Modares and Donya Ahmadi. Şirin Erensoy is moderator. This discussion will focus on current developments in Iran and the political and historical context in which they are taking place. There will also be ample opportunity for questions and interaction with the audience.
