Surprisingly playful (and biographical) French drama about Paul, who gives up his successful career as a photographer to dedicate himself to his true passion: writing. However, sales of his books are disappointing, causing doubt to set in.

To make ends meet, he takes jobs as a handyman, which initially proves quite disillusioning, but ultimately brings him writing inspiration. À pied d'oeuvre is an intimate portrait of the price of artistic freedom and the vulnerability of a Parisian artist.

Director and actress Valérie Donzelli (L'amour et les forêts) debuted in the Venice competition with the true story À pied d'oeuvre (At work) and won the award for Best Script. The French drama film is based on the autobiographical book and bestseller of the same name by Franck Courtes.
