Ama Gloria is a moving coming of age film about Cléo and her nanny Gloria, with a particularly strong performance by the young Louise Mauroy-Panzani. Six-year-old Cléo (Louise Mauroy-Panzani) grows up in Paris. Since birth, she has been raised by Cape Verdean Gloria, while her single father is rarely home. Cléo and Gloria are inseparable. Until Gloria receives a call from her family and she urgently has to return home to take care of her own children. When Cléo is allowed to spend the summer with Gloria in Cape Verde, these months form their last memories together. Àma Gloria is the impressive solo directorial debut of Marie Amachoukeli, who previously won the Camera d'Or for Party Girl with co-directors Claire Burger and Samuel Theis. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival as the opening film of the La Semaine de la Critique section. 'A debut made dazzling by an astonishingly intricate performance from its six-year-old star,' according to Variety.
