Step into After the Game, a compelling interactive VR experience that takes you to squatted buildings along Europe's external borders.
These are spaces where people fleeing their homes can sometimes find a moment of respite. As a visitor, you explore these places and interact with personal objects left behind by previous occupants. Each object tells a fragment of a larger story. Slowly, a reality unfolds that usually remains out of sight: structural violence, pushbacks and border brutality on the edges of Europe. As the virtual space changes, real video footage breaks through into the VR world. The boundary between documentary and fiction blurs, and what seems abstract suddenly becomes tangible and personal.
After the Game is based on real experiences. Such as those of two young men who, soaked and hypothermic, ended up back in Bosnia after a violent pushback at the Croatian border. Sometimes there is help, often there is not. This kind of violence happens every day and usually remains invisible. An urgent, poignant and confrontational experience, which will have its world premiere at IFFR.
