On the brink of revolution in 1989 Romania, six lives intersect amid protests and personal struggles, leading to the explosive fall of Ceausescu and the communist regime.
It is December 20, 1989, and Romanian secret police officer Ionut of the Securitate is investigating counterrevolutionary elements on the student campus. He focuses mainly on Laurentiu, the son of Stefan, a theater director for national television.
The revolution that will overthrow dictator Nicolae Ceausescu is already boiling, but on the surface no one seems to be talking about it. A protest in Timisoara has been violently suppressed by the army, but the news barely reports on it. At the TV station, Stefan has to find a solution to a problem: the New Year's special that has already been filmed features an actress who has just defected. He and the crew come up with the idea of finding an actress with the same appearance and re-filming the close-up.
