A young woman wanders through memories, love, and identity in modern Lhasa (Tibet), where past and present overlap in a story about youth and perception.
In Linka Linka, director Kangdrun paints a subtle and moving portrait of youth in modern Lhasa. The story follows a young woman as she navigates through relationships, memories, and daily life. At first, the narration feels fragmented, with jumps between moments and timelines. The quiet scenes and nighttime conversations reveal the fragile connections between people.
Set against the backdrop of a rarely shown urban Lhasa, the film combines poetic imagery with an intimate story. What begins as confusion evolves into a thoughtful reflection on growing up and understanding the past.
Linka Linka won both the Firebird Award in the Young Films category (Chinese language) and the Fipresci prize at the 50th Hong Kong International Film Festival.
