Behind every tattoo lies a story. Sometimes big, sometimes small - but always personal. What’s your TATTOO STORY?
Perhaps you are still proud of that tattoo you had done years ago. Maybe it reminds you of a special time, someone you loved, or a specific place? That Thai quote could have used a spell check. And yes, that portrait of your ex on your neck? That's a story too. For the TATTOO exhibition at Forum we're looking for the stories behind the ink lines with Tattoo Stories.
Share your Tattoo Story with us and show us what's really behind the ink. Who knows, your story might be featured in the TATTOO exhibition, where we share as many Tattoo Stories as possible on a screen in the exhibition. What's more, your story could win you a signature skull by Henk Schiffmacher!

Tattoo Stories in the City Centre
Curious about other Tattoo Stories? From 20 September 2025 to 4 January 2026, the Forum presents impressive portraits of entrepreneurs, residents and tattoo artists from Groningen, captured with their tattoos and personal stories by photographer Sebastiaan Rodenhuis. There are 20 photographs, that are displayed in varying combinations at the Forum. The series was on view from 27 June to 27 July 2025 in 20 shop windows and catering establishments in Groningen city centre.
Tattoo Stories - The Route is developed in collaboration with the Groninger City Club (GCC) and can be visited free of charge on the exhibition floor (4th floor). You do need a ticket for the TATTOO exhibition (entrance on the 4th floor).
First, fill in your story below and submit it. After that, you can upload and send your photo.
Please note: Make sure to include your first and last name in the filename of your photo so we can match your tattoo to your story.
