Everything you need to know before your visit!
💡 GENERAL
Q: What can I expect at a tattoo convention?
A: A tattoo convention is an event where tattoo artists tattoo live, showcase their work, and where you can explore tattoo culture. During the opening weekend of the TATTOO exhibition, you can not only visit the exhibition but also get tattooed by some of the world’s best tattoo artists, and enjoy various tattoo talks, films, interviews, and live music performances.
Q: Where is the convention taking place?
A: The convention will be held on Friday, June 27 (6 PM – 11 PM), Saturday, June 28 (11 AM – 6 PM and 6 PM – 11 PM), and Sunday, June 29 (11 AM – 6 PM) at Forum Groningen, Nieuwe Markt 1 in Groningen. The Forum is accessible by car and public transport. Check the directions on our contact page: Route and Parking.
Q: Do I need a ticket?
A: Yes, you’ll need a day, evening, or weekend ticket to attend the convention. We recommend purchasing your ticket online to avoid waiting in line. Buying a ticket at the entrance is possible as long as the convention is not sold out. For more information and tickets, visit: Tattoo Convention.
Q: Where do I show my ticket?
A: Upon entering the building, you’ll find the information desk where you can exchange your ticket for a wristband. You can also pick up a program and timetable here.
✍️ GETTING A TATTOO?
Q: Can I get a tattoo at the convention?
A: Yes! You’ll find the artists in their booths in the Rabo Studio, 4 East, and 6 East. You can make an appointment in advance via your favorite artist’s Instagram, or try for a walk-in. Each booth has a sign showing whether the artist still has time available.
Q: Which tattoo artists will be tattooing on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday?

Q: Will Henk Schiffmacher also be tattooing?
A: The Smartlab will become the Schiffmacher and Veldhoen Shop. Four tattoo artists from Schiffmacher's shop in Amsterdam will be tattooing here. If you're lucky, you might even run into Henk Schiffmacher himself and score a tattoo.
Q: What’s the minimum age to get a tattoo?
A: The minimum age to get a tattoo at the Tattoo Convention in Forum Groningen is 16 years old.
Q: Can I bring someone with me while getting tattooed?
A: Yes, you may bring one person with you, but they must have their own valid convention ticket.
Q: How can I prepare for getting a tattoo?
A: Make sure to eat and drink well beforehand, avoid alcohol and drugs, and wear comfortable clothing.
Q: Which body parts can I get tattooed during the convention?
A: Intimate areas will not be tattooed at the convention.
Q: How much does a tattoo cost?
A: Prices vary by artist. You’ll either pay per hour or a fixed price per design.
Q: Can I bring my own design?
A: That depends on the artist. Some only work with flash designs. This must always be discussed in advance when booking your appointment.
Q: I have a ticket for Friday evening, but my appointment is on Saturday. What should I do?
A: Email us at tickets@forum.nl, and we’ll change your ticket to the correct day.
Q: My appointment is on Saturday at 5 PM. Which ticket should I buy?
A: Buy a ticket for Saturday evening and check in at the information desk downstairs — we’ll help you from there.
🧼 HYGIENE & SAFETY
Q: Do the artists work hygienically?
A: Yes, all professionals use sterile materials, wear gloves, and follow the Dutch Public Health (GGD) guidelines. Workspaces are professionally set up and cleaned after every session.
Q: What should I know about aftercare?
A: Each artist will provide specific aftercare instructions. Follow them carefully to ensure the best healing process.

Q: Can I take photos during the convention?
A: Always ask permission before photographing visitors or tattoo artists.
Q: Will there be food and drinks available at the convention?
A: Absolutely! You can find food and drinks at various spots throughout the venue. Payment can be made cash or by card.
