Raak mij aan! Touch me!

In Women Are Heroes, JR emphasizes the central role of women in society.

In the movie, JR introduces women who sometimes look death in the eye, who go from laughing to crying, who are generous, have nothing and yet share, who have had a painful past and long to build a happy future.

The project had several installations in Brazil, India, Cambodia and in Africa - in Kenya, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Sudan. The people in the neighborhoods, such as the favelas of Rio de Janeiro and the slums of Kibera, helped install and paste huge pictures that gave local women a powerful voice.

English spoken, Dutch subtitles.
