A fascinating portrait of a man who is losing his grip on reality.
The brilliant impersonation of Anthony Hopkins will not let you down for a moment. Olivia Colman as his daughter Anne, makes both her powerlessness and her love tangible. She once again looks for a nurse for her demented father Anthony, who keeps turning down all help. Anne wants to make sure that he is taken care of when she is not there.
For Anthony it is no longer clear what is real and what is going on in his mind. We experience the story through his eyes and feel his confusion. His familiar surroundings are no longer familiar. Hopkin's stunning performance earned him his second Oscar for Best Actor. Florian Zeller won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
