During this masterclass, cartoonist and animator Piet Kroon will talk about his work on Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022)

Piet Kroon (1960) started his career as a cartoonist, but soon made the switch to animation. He wrote and directed the short films Dada (1994) and T.R.A.N.S.I.T. (1998) which were well received. The latter won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award, among others. The success opened the door to Hollywood, where Piet Kroon was employed by Warner Feature Animation. He worked there as a storyboard artist on Quest for Camelot (1998) and the classic The Iron Giant (1999). This was followed by work for other major studios, including Disney, Dreamworks, Blue Sky Studios and Netflix Animation.

Well-known titles in his ouevre are: Shrek 2 (2004), The Corpse Bride (2005), Enchanted (2007), Bolt (2008), Monsters vs. Aliens (2009), Despicable Me (2010), Rio (2011), Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012), and Spies in Disguise (2019). During the masterclass, he will talk about his work on Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022), which will be screened as a Framed special in the run-up to the festival.
