A woman looking for the meaning of her life
In 1820 Oregon, Otis "Cookie" Figowitz, a timid cook traveling across the country, meets King-Lu, a Chinese immigrant on the run after committing a murder.
The first cow in the area offers them a way out of their nomadic existence: at night they go out to secretly milk her and Cookie uses the milk to create unprecedented treats. The duo quickly set up a thriving business and their dreams seem to be coming true.
Kelly Reichardt presents a subtle story of friendship and entrepreneurship with First Cow, showing in a thoughtful and refreshing way how diverse a western story can be.
