Produced, written, directed, starred and fully paid for by Tommy Wiseau, The Room has been called "the Citizen Kane of bad movies" and "the worst movie ever." So bad that it becomes entertaining.
With The Room director, writer, producer and protagonist Tommy Wiseau made one of the most bizarre films ever made. Clothes change color between scenes, cameras fly back and forth over axes and plot lines are thrown up haphazardly and are never finished. For example, one of the protagonists suddenly announces, in the middle of a conversation, that she has breast cancer. And that will never be mentioned again.
Wiseau replaced his crew twice due to disagreements over the film. Large parts of the film have been dubbed because the script was adjusted after shooting. The original script was much longer but was already heavily modified by the actors on set. An anonymous actor said: 'The script contained stuff that was just unsayable. I know it's hard to imagine there was stuff that was worse. But there was.'
The Room was so thoroughly blasted by American critics that the film became an absolute cult phenomenon. The hilarity is best enjoyed in a room full of fans, so bring all your friends and come experience this absolute classic – complete with plastic cutlery and other traditions associated with the screening of the legendary film.
