The story of the single greatest book adaptation never made.
Director Alejandro Jodorowsky, known for bold and psychedelic films such as El Topo and The Holy Mountain, began work in the 1970s on perhaps the most ambitious film ever made: a film adaptation of Frank Herbert's epic science fiction novel Dune.
He assembled a team of the greatest talents of the time, including Orson Welles, Mick Jagger, Salvador Dali and Pink Floyd. For two years, Jodorowsky and his team worked day and night on the challenging task of creating the world of Dune. To secure the necessary Hollywood funding, they created more than 3,000 storyboards, countless paintings, impressive costumes and an impressive screenplay. But it wasn't enough: Hollywood didn't dare. This delightful feel-good documentary tells the story of the greatest film ever made.
