Raak mij aan! Touch me!

Ali is always a good-tempered and involved landlord

When he agrees to pick up one of his residents' kids from school, he offers Ava, an Irish teacher and single mother of five children, a ride. They hit it off immediately due to their shared love of music, eventhough their tastes in musicgenres clash quite a bit. A new relationship blooms between them, but the past quickly catches up with them due to traces of Ava's past relationship and the destruction of Ali's marriage.

Director Clio Barnard's writing was inspired by the people she met during the creation of her highly praised feature films The Arbor and The Selfish Giant. Ali & Ava is an optimistic and romantic film set in the sober industrial city known as Bradford. The variation in music score contribute to the energetic essence of the film.
